Shabir is one of the most esteemed flag bearers of Tamil music in Singapore – and his commitment to the cause isn't merely ceremonial. Multiple award-winning singer-songwriter, music producer, and performer Shabir Tabare Alam is the inaugural winner of Vasantham Star 2005, hosted by Mediacorp, Vasantham (Singapore). He is also conferred with the Singapore Youth Award, the highest national honor given to young achievers by the Singapore Government. He is the first artist of Tamil and Indian descent to win the award. Shabir achieved mainstream success in India as a film composer, songwriter, and singer in the highly competitive Indian Film Music industry in 2019 with back-to-back releases, with one of his songs (Yaayum) crossing 115 million collective views on YouTube. To date, Shabir is the first Singaporean composer to have signed 10 feature films in India. This year, we are celebrating the decennial year of Singai Naadu which has not only been praised by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong but is now also included in MOE’s curriculum for all primary and secondary school students.
