Vitam Et Mortem is today one of the most outstanding referents of metal music in Latin America, represents the transformation, character, identity and intellect of Colombian metal with traces of old extreme metal. In their 20 years of continuous activity they have released six full-length albums where they have created, scratched and recreated soundscapes and stories of the geography and culture of Colombia and Latin America. The new Vitam Et Mortem´s album is «El Río de la Muerte» ("River of Death"), a conceptual work adressing the issue of the armed conflict that has scourged Colombia for the past 70 years, the album makes a comparison between the Magdalena river in Colombia and the Acheron river of Greek mythology; Vitam Et Mortem has made this album as an exercise of historical memory and also as an invocation for all those who have died violently in Colombia.
