Agaahi Raahi isn’t rapping just to become part of the “scene”, as his name suggests, he was rapping with the purpose of spreading awareness of and calling out the injustices that prevail in our society. His songs were reflective of this will. Released in May 2020, Haalaat, which also got featured in Rolling Stone India, was called “a hard-hitting take on India as it goes through the coronavirus pandemic”. His album Ye Hai Baghawat with various artists was released in October 2020 and is one of the most hard-hitting political albums for Agaahi. But, as is popularly said, change is the only constant. Agaahi had to take a break after Baghawat – COVID among other things took a toll on him. For over a year, Agaahi did not release new music and made a comeback in 2022. By now his artistic sensibilities had evolved and he no longer wanted to just fit a bill. He wanted to step out of all boxes and thus began a new chapter for Agaahi. Whether mental, emotional or physical, his songs Maghrib, Arsh, Ek Saal and Dawa Nahi, dealt with one’s inner struggles. In 2020, his music questioned the world, in 2022, his music was self-reflective. In 2023, more music awaits, with an EP called Rahman Brothers & Co. set to release in June.
