Rigby is the solo project of 24-year-old Kellyrose Golden, inspired by a range of artists and genres spanning from 90's alt-rock to lofi and indie-pop. Golden's early fascination with the works of Liz Phair and Grouper resulted in her first Rigby release; a bedroom-alternative EP titled It's Not Real, self-recorded and self-produced in her freshman year dorm room. Honest and candid lyrics combined with shoegazey riffs and distorted guitar create an experience like reading a diary, one heavy with heartbreak and growing pains. With her 2019 single "Headache” making several Spotify editorial playlists such as Lofi-Indie, Golden established herself as a promising name in female alt-rock, releasing her third EP, Dirty Girls, in 2020 and her most recent single, "In Limbo," this past summer. Ellie Fallon of WKCO 91.9 FM wrote of Golden, "Most of Rigby's songs are introspective and heavy-hearted. It's incredibly satisfying to listen to a song that expresses emotion so honestly that it makes it hard to separate yourself from the lyrics, which is exactly how Golden writes. The lyrics hold a soft but intense grip on the listener. It is alarmingly easy to get sucked into these songs, losing yourself in feelings of disappointment and unrequited love. Golden's confessions are more like poetic diary entries, giving us an intimate glimpse into her mind. They serve as a refuge — a place to go when you don't feel seen or heard by even those closest to you."
