How they became what they are: After several attempts at forming a music group the previous year, HERRN STUMPFES ZIEH & ZUPF KAPELLE performed their first concert on New Years's Eve 1991. Members of the original lineup were Benny Banano, Flex Flechsler, Manne Arold, Selle Hafner and Stephan Stumpf (who left the band in 2000.) In the years to follow, the KAPELLE evolved from a rather instrumental oriented band to a versatile comedy music act, which took audiences all over southern Germany by storm. Their trademark singing of both traditional and contemporary songs about their "Heimat", combined with a vivid mixture of folk, swing, rock, bluegrass and anarchistic comedy elements made the band unique - and finally so popular that German television couldn't help but broadcast parts of their shows regularly. Their history of 28 years together as a band, more than 3000 shows and 11 CD albums show HERRN STUMPFES ZIEH & ZUPF KAPELLE as a rather rare institution in entertainment.
