Gravity, the new Drawn from Bees single, is a return to form for the perennial Brisbane art-rockers. From the swelling synths to the driving bass, the song propels the listener across space and time in a retro-futuristic space odyssey. Accompanying the single release is a music video that takes the space adventure theme, drawing on inspiration from classic 80s space adventure cartoons, such as Ulysses 31, to create a cosmic adventure complete with lost love and space monsters. Gravity is the fourth release in a space-inspired series, following All These People, Kindness, and Coldest Night. Since forming in 2008, Drawn from Bees have challenged musical orthodoxy, from a four-volumed EP boxset, Elementary Tales for Young Boys and Girls, to the LP, The May King and His Paper Crown, exploring themes of love, loss, murder, and betrayal. Playing to audiences in Australia, UK and USA, Drawn from Bees have garnered a reputation as a compelling live act, as well as achieving critical acclaim for their particular brand of art-rock. The members of Drawn from Bees each spent their formative years in a different part of the world – Brisbane, Sydney, Portishead (UK) and Butterworth (Malaysia). This unique combination of life experience has allowed for a depth of experience, influences and colour in Drawn from Bees’ approach and sound.
