Electronic dance music outfit Klaypex infuses their hard-hitting electro-house with dubstep wobble inspired by acts like Infected Mushroom, Deadmau5, and Skrillex. Officially formed in the early 2010s, their debut Loose Dirt landed in 2011 and they expanded their audience with viral hit "Dubstep Guns." The seeds of Klaypex were planted when members Johnny Atar and Mark Emmanuel met in Toronto in 2006 at an after school program. Rooted in alternative rock and heavy metal, the guys first tried their hand as a rock band influenced by Metallica and Muse. It wasn't until 2010 that they switched focus to electronic music and relocated to Miami. Their first effort, Loose Dirt, was released in 2011. Featuring a wobbly, Skrillex-lite sound, the album included the song "Dubstep Guns," which went viral and helped expand their audience. They quickly followed with Ready to Go, which rose to the Top 20 on both the U.S. Dance/Electronic and Heatseekers charts. Third effort, Anything Goes, was issued in 2014. Lighter on the dubstep but no less energetic, the LP included collaborations with Anne Nguyen ("Follow Me" and "Dangerous"), Dolly K ("Last Night"), and others. Short EP The Future expanded on the ideas from Anything Goes, reveling in their love of Daft Punk on tracks "Robot Love" and "New Kids." Incorporating future bass and trap into their sound, they continued releasing singles into 2016 with "Be Free" and "Journey." ~ Neil Z. Yeung
