Nutopia is an indie pop band formed in 2012 by Francisco Santiago and Ricardo Santana. Hailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, the band has consistently been making music throughout the years and as they have been releasing more new sounds, the project has turned more and more heads every coming year, as they continue to experiment with new musical styles and genres and within their indie essence. A project that started in Ricardo Santana's living room in Caguas, Puerto Rico, eventually transformed itself into a “serious” project. Their music has been featured on various blogs, editorials, playlists and Radio stations including Remezcla, Bandcamp, KEXP, Reaktor 105.7, La Mega, Medalla Light's Music Blog, Indie Hoy, and Mr. Indie. The band has also been showcased in festivals that include the LAMC, SXSW and Symphonic Distribution’s Live Showcase in Puerto Rico. Their music has been described as "sounding like Bloc Party’s nostalgic Latin American cousins" - Richard Villegas for Bandcamp, and "having a style that is similar yet more complex than the actual status quo of rock on the island of Puerto Rico, that is more authentic than what you would typically hear on local radio stations" Jose Jimenez for Puerto Rico Indie.
