‘Are We Alive' is currently a project from guitarist Andrew Goode with influences from many genres such as metalcore, punk, rock, and djent. Background: It all started in 2012 with the formation of metal band, ‘The Outlawed’ in Arlington, TX. I toured across the United States with my bandmates. Our goal was to make heavy metal music and take over the world. Life went a different direction. I then formed punk band, ‘Sacred Sound’ with a previous bandmate. We played many shows and even landed a spot on Warped Tour in 2015. Unfortunately, the life I lived then slowly degraded into partying and alcoholism. In 2019 I joined ‘AVEA’. We made a lot of experimental music and videos, but life did its thing and we have since been on an indefinite hiatus. Creating ‘Are We Alive’: After making major life changes and marrying my wife I was able to return to music. I once believed that you had to sell out arenas and sell millions of records to be fulfilled as a music artist. I was wrong. I discovered the most fulfilling thing to me is simply creating music and sharing it with people, so I created ‘Are We Alive’. The name comes from my experience with derealization and also just seeing how some live their lives on autopilot. I didn’t put a question mark simply because I thought the name looked better without it. To me, I feel the most alive when I’m making music. As long as I live so will this project. I’d love to have you join me on this journey and listen along.
