ferna aims to tell the stories that otherwise get lost in the noise. Merging the organic with the electronic, ferna delivers a sound that amplifies the nuances of everyday life – both confident and vulnerable, beautiful and menacing, filled with mixed emotions and powerful hooks. ferna is the work of composer, Hannah McPhillimy who cut her teeth on the Belfast music scene, appearing alongside artists such as SOAK, Foy Vance and The Gloaming. She was invited to play/ performed at the SongLives series in New York, and SXSW with indie-pop band Go Wolf, before spending two years in the US completing her Masters in Music Composition at the University of Michigan (2017 - 2019) Back on home turf, ferna has continued to hone her “uniquely, offbeat indie sound” (Belfast Live) with veteran producer Stuart Reid (Duran Duran, Plan B), the result of which is her debut album ‘Understudy’ ready for release Spring 2023. Her single Wasting has been nominated for ni music prize 2022.
