Masala Soundsystem is a multi-kulti musical entity from Warsaw, Poland - known for 20 years of musical activity and 10+ releases in LP & EP form. It combines traditional instruments (sarangi, saz, suka, hurdy-gurdy, jew-harp, darbuka, bendir, ney, duduk...) and vocal techniques (throat-singing) from Asia, Middle East & Eastern Europe, with modern drum loops, deep bass and socially conscious street poetry - serving it all with significant pinch of punk energy and well-directed rage. Masala Soundsystem consists of virtuosos in their crafts, coming from musical worlds as distant as traditional ethnic & folk music, hip-hop, reggae, dancehall or modern electronic music of various genres. However, their joint artistic effort - orchestrated in the proper way - turns out to perfectly harmonize and combine into a fascinating new form. From melancholy of dub, through oriental dancehall, to overwhelming energy of techno or drum'n'bass. From subtle sounds of traditional instruments to fiery and noisy electro-ethno-punk. From interpretations of old folk melodies to rebellious hip-hop lyrics full of bitter commentary on the shape and rules of the modern world. From the North to the South, from the East to the West.
