Chasing Dreams from Dorsten (Germany) released their debut EP How It Was Supposed To Be on January 14th, 2022. The first single Endless Pain was released on January 7th, 2022. 
 Chasing Dreams plays modern melodic post-hardcore. Characteristic for the band's sound is the mixture of melodic and hard guitar riffs and the versatile vocals of singer Kim Wiesweg. The lyrics deal with topics such as addiction, depression and the failure of relationships - each narrated by the lyrical self. “The songs are partly based on my own experiences and partly on stories told by friends. We want to show that there are always situations in life that pose challenges and thwart our plans. But in the end it is important not to lose hope and pursue your dreams and goals. Our band name and the name of the EP are ultimately based on this idea,” says Kim Wiesweg. 
 The EP was produced in summer 2021 by Christof Kempe (Embark Audio), who has worked with melodic hardcore bands such as Alazka, Breathe Atlantis and The Pariah. “It was important that the sound carries the idea behind the songs and the meaning of the lyrics. With Chris we have found a producer who not only produces the songs, but also deals with them in a way that enables us to fine-tune the sound until our ideas have been perfectly implemented. The EP gives the listener a very good first impression of where we want to stand with our songs" says Mauritz Hagemann, who is responsible for the band's music and lyrics.
