Mitika Kanwar is a classically trained vocalist from Indore and Patiala Gharana who has been experimenting with different genres of music. Her signature style has always been a fusion of Indian classical variations and R&B, with Jazz and Low-fi influences. She is also known for presenting traditional Punjabi folk tunes to today’s audience in a unique way, keeping the elements of original “gayaki” intact and resulting in millions of streams across DSPs. Mitika has collaborated with several established acts across genres both in India and internationally including KSHMR, Jaz Dhami, Spinnin Records and Salim Merchant among others. According to her, singing is a form of deep self expression and spiritual practice. “I always wanted to be different from the generic sound and saw myself manifesting experimental style of singing in various genres,” she says.
