Not merely an album, I Live In Patterns marks a breakthrough for how Janzen sees herself and thinks about personal metamorphosis. “The album is an exploration of learning to accept my own set of emotional patterns and how to adjust around them, rather than fight them. Whether that means accepting that some aspects of my brain chemistry are not leaving any time soon, or recognizing that certain things I learned as a child may always have a part of me, I believe that it is important work for my own artistic and personal journey.” Janzen’s EP Shouting Matches gained recognition from Exclaim!, NYLON, Paste, Noisey, i-D and more. Taylor then kicked off 2020 as an Official Artist at SXSW where she performed at the Rolling Stone Emerging Artist Showcase and NPR featured her in their coveted Austin 100. She has since been heard across the Sirius XM Alt Nation airwaves and shared stages with Del Water Gap and X Ambassadors as well as slots on Lollapalooza. Visiting Nashville to work with JT Daly (K. Flay), returning to Winnipeg with her friend Roman Clarke, and traveling to Los Angeles to work with Andy Seltzer and Jen Decilveo, Taylor pieced together what is now her recently released debut album, ‘I Live In Patterns’.
