Cryptodira is a 4-piece progressive/experimental metal band from Long Island, NY. With an ever-twisting sound full of surprises, Cryptodira seeks to add a dirty edge to the polished sound that is usually associated with progressive metal. The band rather seemlessly blends a Converge or Dillinger Escape Plan brand of chaos with lengthy song structures and manic time changing for a beautiful, yet aggressive sound. In a progressive world jammed with spacey themes and fictional storytelling, Cryptodira’s lyrical message revolves around the intersectionality theory of oppression, bringing a uniquely realistic and human element to the table. This unorthodox approach to progressive music defines the very essence of Cryptodira as a group that has something important to say and an interesting way of saying it.
