Comprised of Matt Cochran (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Patrick Shipp (Guitar/Backing Vocals) and Beej Vaughan (Drums/Backing Vocals), WALKEN were a pop-fuelled frenzy of Alternative Rock, ambitious Punk and Power Pop. Throughout their time as band, they'd supported numerous domestic icons like Violent Soho, The Smith Street Band, DZ Deathrays, Luca Brasi, Tired Lion and had established themselves as an Alternative Rock staple in their hometown of Brisbane. In May 2022, the Brisbane trio announced they had expanded their lineup to a four piece, but would no longer be performing under the WALKEN moniker. Choosing to remove themselves from their old name and back catalogue prior to working on a debut album, the band stated they would be initiating a fresh start and moving forward under the new name Talk Heavy, with Tayla Ellerby joining on Bass.
