Our Last Hope Lost Hope was formed in Sweden in 2002. While the core group has stayed the same over the years, several members have come and gone, and added their contributions from different parts of the world. The group creates cinematic post-rock music with a melancholic flavor, mainly inspired by the irreverence for classification that defined the early music in the genre. In the time since, the band has acquired a significant underground following of listeners around the world, and has been featured in several works of art, such as stage plays and films. The first, self-titled, album was recorded with a ten-piece band in the winter of 2003 at Domsaga studio in Sundsvall, Sweden. The first song on the album, "Godsstation", also appeared on "The Zeromoon Sampler III: An Explanation of Difficult Music", and in the chinese version of the film "An Elephant Sitting Still". Rehearsals started for "Persist" in 2007, with the main recording session happening a few years later in Jädraås, Sweden. It took another two years before the album was completed. It was released in the winter of 2011. The main recording session for "The Cairns" took place during 2021 and it is slated for release on February 22, 2022.
