For Jenah Shank, it’s always been about the story. Whether weaving through countless news articles she’s drafted over a long career in journalism, or within the lyrics she’s penned since childhood, Jenah’s words can carry you through tales and testimonies unfolding with each line she writes, every strum of her guitar. Jenah has recorded several songs over the past two decades, including “New Road,” one of her most successful works. The song continues to resonate with its original audience as well as “newcomers” to Shank’s style of storytelling songwriting. She has also participated in numerous benefit efforts and has shared her songs at churches, coffee houses, youth events, juvenile centers, clubs, cafes and festivals across the country. Proceeds from her music have helped send disadvantaged youth to summer camp. She's been working to link her recent release, "No Greater Love," about a young man killed serving his country, to various organizations that support veterans' efforts and families of fallen officers to support those causes. For the past several years, she has participated in suicide awareness events/vigils in remembrance of her brother, Ronnie, a Gulf War veteran who took his own life in 1994 at the age of 23. She assists her husband, Ron, with Sunday morning truck top services by providing the music. Musicians who have contributed to her work include the Granati Brothers (David, Joey and Hermie), Sonny Cashbaugh, John Sferra and Phil Keaggy.
