The first steps towards creating Selma & Gustaf was taken when the two founders, Selma Edenståhl and Gustaf Johnsson, met during a music course. Initially they performed as a duo in Hudiksvall and soon after recruited bandmates Viktor Ek, Emil Thurell and Carl Embretsén. It was then their career took the next step and alongside with releasing music they toured in the Nordics and the USA. Some time has passed since their acclaimed releases in 2019, time well spent in the studio. Selma & Gustaf have gone through a big musical change, which has made it clear that their Americana-sounding music has been replaced by a more pop oriented sound, in which guitars have taken a step back in favor of synthesizers and pads. A sound that is showcased on their EP "Future Mondays" released in 2021. They are currently in the midst of releasing their second fulllength album.
