"In a way, Ohio-based band half kidding has always existed, simmering under the surface while its five members spent several years growing together as musicians and friends. The latest project born of The Summit Shack, a never-empty DIY venue in Bowling Green, OH, half kidding finally came together following the dissolution of the bands American Spirits and Floor Candy. These two former bands had unique and distinct sounds. To combine them might seem ambitious to some, a challenge that half kidding approaches with playful sincerity. True to their name, their music evokes the feeling of the laughter that follows tearful vulnerability. There's a comfort and warmth to their pop-influenced style and sultry vocals, with heavy riffs and screams that serve as a refusal to let overwhelming, often contradictory feelings be dulled by apathy.
