Initially emerging from the UK ska/punk scene, Popes Of Chillitown quickly established themselves as keen to break conventions and incorporate wider influences into their sound. Impossible to tie down and with enough energy to power a small city, their songs drag you through punk, two-tone, rock, hip-hop, reggae, drum & bass, dub, metal and more. Renowned for their energetic live shows, they have amassed a loyal following over the years. Since 2011, Popes have released 3 well-received albums, 2 EPs, toured the UK with US legends Fishbone, Voodoo Glow Skulls & The Slackers as well as doing extensive headline touring of their own across the UK & Europe. The new album ‘Take A Picture’ is a genre-denying melée of energetic, fiercely catchy and immersive songs, bringing together all the diverse influences in the band. The album releases alongside singles 'Crashmat', 'Short Straw' and title track 'Take A Picture' and landed in 4 Official UK Album Charts, reaching No#5 Indie Breakers, No#14 Album Downloads, No#29 Independent Albums and the Top 100 UK Album Sales. “Futuristic progressive punk, filled with bossy brass, smooth vocal hooks and face-splitting riffs” 8/10 Bruce Turnbull, Vive Le Rock Magazine “[Take A Picture] is an absolute anthem which has a fresh modern approach. It is absolutely one of my favourites of the year and worthy of going on my happy playlist.” Nexus Music “A seriously intense carnival of composition” Sound Read Six
