The drum'n'bass alias of Hamburg-based professional sound design duo Stefan and Christine Westphal, Rawtekk sprung to life in the early 2000s. Their first release, Your Game, came in 2006 on Destination Recordings and was followed a year later with a trio of 12"s for Syndrome Audio, Citrus, and Disturbed. Continuing to release their tech-edged style of drum'n'bass over the next few years, the duo really cemented their place in the scene with their 2013 debut album, Sprouted and Formed, on Hospital Records' offshoot Med School. Moving away from the blueprint that had served them well for their earlier releases, the album signaled a new direction, taking their experimental sound design work and mixing it with drum'n'bass and dubstep. Taking their set-up on the road in support of the album, the duo played various live dates across Europe, including nights at London's renowned Fabric nightclub. 2014 saw the release of the companion remix EP, Sprouted and Reformed, which included reworkings of their album tracks by the likes of Phace and Billain. Rawtekk returned to the studio to record their sophomore album, Here's to Them. Scheduled for a mid-2016 release, the album was preceded by the fierce drum'n'bass workout Harbour. ~ Rich Wilson, Rovi
