Marrying his gritty accent with real-life accounts of hustle and struggle, Birmingham-based rapper RK has become renowned for his unreserved authenticity and documentation of the Block. The self-labelled Brum Town Baby, RK started rapping from 15 and was making music in a serious manner by 18. A path often travelled; it soon became clear that RK was deserved a place at the top of Birmingham’s re-emerging music scene thanks to his array of comedic and harrowing bars. Collaborations and releases with GRM Daily, Link Up TV, and P110 soon followed, alongside co-signs from the top with Kenny Allstar and DJ Target platforming and supporting the rapper and his venomous lyricism. Now surpassing over 10 million streams across streaming platforms, YouTube, and radio, RK is set to emerge from 2021 with a further refined sense of self and city with an EP to match. In line with Birmingham’s musical re-emergence this decade, his spearheading of the city onto the international rap stage feels inevitable.
