Philip Joonho Lee is a Korean American artist by the name of Old Chingu which means Old Friend in Korean. Like his name implies, he loves to connect with people from all walks of life. He experiments with Alternative Hip-Hop, Hyperpop and K-Pop elements that best represents his style and roots to his culture. His passion for interacting with his fans and networking with artists alike- makes him a person that is unique in the music industry. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Most people underestimate his ability because of his ethnic background. However, he uses that to his advantage and has become a pivotal role-model to many Asian Americans in the world. Since he was a child his passion was building genuine relationships, and protecting those around him. However, during his late teenage years he found himself deep in a hole of drugs, partying, and negativity; surrounded by unfulfilling company. At his lowest point he felt as if he were touched by God; his very soul opened up and graced with a second chance. After many years of wanting to, he began creating music in 2018. This time acting on his faith and love for God rather than chasing what he was led to believe was important in life. Old Chingu continues to put out music on a consistent basis paired with relatable content. He meets his fans where they are; that's how he remains authentic for years to come.
