The Theater Fire, a rock band from the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas, was formed in 1995 under the name Vena Cava by guitarist/singer Don Feagin and bassist Mark Castaneda, who, over the next five years, added Jesse Brakefield (trumpet, harp, percussion), Sean French (pedal steel, bells, banjo, guitar, harmonica, xylophone), James Talambras (horn, piano, percussion), Curtis Heath (guitar, vocals), and Nick Prendergast (drums). During this time, the group's sound changed so much that they decided to change names (they also found there were other bands called Vena Cava); by the time their self-titled debut album appeared on the Austin-based Christmas Mountains Records label in 2003, they had become the Theater Fire. Their second album, Everybody Has a Dark Side, was released nationally by Undeniable Records on August 29, 2006. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
