Enigmatic and ambivalent character Lou Berry’s path is one of nostalgic romance and a flurry of human passions. The 24-year-old singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist devises his sounds with a lunar warmth, in the young artist’s own contemporary style whose roots are planted in the harmonic progressions of jazz and classical music. These are the sounds of his childhood, sounds he has brought up himself, maturing them with waves of texture borrowed from the electronic. Early sketches of his musical signature came at a young age, as a solo lyrical singer. Lou then taught himself the piano, the guitar, and the bass, defining the parameters of his expression by use of production software, the ideal addition to his complementary mastery of multiple instruments (and self-taught, as always). His hallmark lack of academic education leaves a lot of room for spontaneity and subconscious processes, as his songwriting embraces his melodies and materializes as poetry. Lou first came to light in 2016 with Blue Sky. Born in a corner of his bedroom, this first EP was a collection of airy, melancholy songs, and a catalyst for early success. Some time has passed since his first release and Lou has spent it sharpening his art and finishing his education. His detail-driven care for the harmonious and his feel for the ornamental have made him a precious producer and a collector of projects, who has lent his talents to movies, advertising, and other artists.
