Auckland-based trio Lookin Up has found a firm foothold in New Zealand's pop-punk soundscape, establishing a loyal following from years of extensive touring. Birthed in Aotearoa's hardcore scene, the three-piece has gained recognition as a potent live act, their dynamic sound translating into energetic, high-powered performances. Drawing from an array of influences, Lookin Up's punk rock roots are reminiscent of local predecessors Shihad and Blindspott imbued with nu-metal elements. Following the release of their debut album 'Reborn' in 2014, the outfit secured coveted support slots for the likes of Rise Against, Parkway Drive, Deez Nuts, Man Overboard Gorilla Biscuits, Four Year Strong, Thy Art Is Murder and The Word Alive. After a brief hiatus and a flurry of line-up changes, the band recorded it's sophomore album 'Gold' at Norway's Ocean Sound Recordings in 2018 and embarked on an ill-fated tour of Europe, culminating after three shows due to issues within the band. Upon their return to New Zealand, the group reconvened and recruited a new drummer, before undertaking a tour of Asia and a stint of shows around Aotearoa. With their sights set on Europe once more, the stars aligned in 2019 and the group completed more than 20 shows across the continent with a new drummer, proving the second time's the charm.
