Resting in the intersection of Soul and R&B, sits LA-based troubadour Berel (birth name, Berel Alexander). His lush sound is like if Marvin Gaye and Nick Drake made a power-duo in the 21st century, carried by vintage warmth and a milky voice. In Berel’s eyes, art and hope are synonymous. With every note, he uncovers truth and opens up people’s minds to new areas of emotion. Growing up on the northern California coast, Berel found his interest in classic Soul music during long drives in his parent’s beat up pickup truck. Drawn to nature and raised without television, he found solace digging through his dad’s musty vinyl records. Through listening and learning, Berel adopted a deep appreciation for musicality and love songs, and soon began writing songs of his own. With the Indie-tinged brand of R&B exhibited in his breakout EP, “Thirteenth Floor” (2019), Berel gained notoriety as a standout artist from the likes of Lyrical Lemonade and Ones To Watch, who called the project “just about perfect”. His songs have been featured by tastemakers such as: Joe Kay of Soulection Radio, RinseFM and Pigeons & Planes’ Weekly Playlist. In 2020, he followed up with a single entitled, “Cloud” (released by prolific label Majestic Casual). On Dec. 9th 2021, he released his sophomore EP titled, “Cure For Leisure” with the Los Angeles non-profit recording imprint Over Everything.
