Right around the insurgence of Dark Watch, Austin was craving a heavier sound to nourish a more “darkened” artistic side. Writing stories that are fantasy in concept, but are really vessels of relatability that apply to the common person’s life experiences; a task often taken on to deaf ears. Upon discovering the opportunity to work with Jacob and create Dark Watch, it gave Austin a new chance to dive head first into the very type of project he was fiending for. In 2019, Austin and Jacob met at mutual friend and YouTuber Jared Dines' house party. They became friends, but did not discuss "The Nazgul" at this time. It was a later Facebook post by Jacob that had connected the two musically. They would set off to record vocals for five songs in early 2020, which would form the debut EP "Cosmo-Deus". Dark Watch dropped on February 3rd, 2022 with a music video for their song "Amaterasu: Iris Infernus". Fans of Austin were ecstatic to see him go in a heavier direction with quotes such as "song of the year!" and "this is the sickest thing I've heard in a while!" On March 3rd the debut EP Cosmo-Deus was released and received great feedback with fans saying "Its like you managed to put a decade of deathcore into one song" and "This album will either be an underground classic, a retrospective classic or a true classic". In one month Dark Watch gained over 35,000 streams and 8,500 listeners on Spotify and will continue to grow into a metal staple for the years to come.
