bagdad brothers is the project of former vára-members bjarni daníel and sigurpáll viggó. despite having only been active in the current form for just over a year, the brothers have already released two short records, three music videos, and played around 40 shows in the reykjavík area, including a few festival slots and a session with seattle‘s kexp, as well as their ep "JÆJA." earning the kraumur music award for record of the year.
 their music has been described as energetic, youthful indie-pop for the summer time, tackling themes ranging from deeply personal heartbreak experiences, to an ironic political commentary.
 "You can't explain what a band means to people in a local scene if you're not really from that scene. I think about this all the time when I try to explain Seattle music to people outside of the city. But when you get to experience a band on their home turf with the people who intimately love the music from their hometown heroes. That's what it was like seeing Bagdad Brothers play to a packed crowd at Kex Hostel in Reykjavik.
