Have you ever imagined Caribbean music somewhere too far from its origin, in some place, where it would be exotic and rare? It’s not easy at all to find Caribbean beats in boundless vastness of Russia, but there are some bands, which successfully push Jamaican music within their motherland. And one of those bands is Lollypop Lorry, which was established back in 2008 and has been steadily evolving for 12 years. From their first shows, Lollypop Lorry have gained a reputation of one of the most promising ska/reggae bands in Russia, and nowadays became one of the most viewed bands of that kind in the Internet having more the 10 million views from all over the world. Their repertoire is based on their own original songs and tunes as well as the traditional Caribbean music — ska, reggae, dub and various covers keyed to a recognisable sound of the band. Lollypop Lorry means quality of sound and performance. During the last twelve years the band performed at the largest Russian festivals, visited many Russian cities, played with The Wailers, BeNuts, Markscheider Kunst and many others. In the fall of 2019 the band went on their first foreign two-weeks tour in Mexico. They performed at the Non Stop Ska international festival and played a number of solo shows, which became a huge resonant event for all ska music lovers in Mexico. Discography includes eight EPs, two LPs (both released on vinyl). Dub LP and a new album in the best traditions of the 60s are in progress now.
