That’s what the L.A. based duo Conditioner, made up of Aaron Kirkbride and Riley McCluskey, set out to explore on their upcoming, self-titled album, going deep into inspiration they found in the Surrealist painter Leonora Carrington, the modern catalog of songs about homesick aliens, how cults create a sense of mind control that feels like love, jazz guitarist George Benson, and, of course, a little bit of Steely Dan.
