Biyografi
Mark Shaw formed Then Jerico in 1982 via an advert in Melody Maker and first gig in London 1983. After line-up change and just 6 more gigs in London & NYC, in 1984 he signed a 7-album deal with London Records. The label refused to release the single ‘The Big Sweep' (produced by Martin Rushent) due to Shaw’s controversial lyrical subject matter so in 1985 TJ released 1,000 Limited Edition 12” Singles on indie label ‘Immaculate’ (owned by Pete “Buzzcocks” Shelley & Martin Rushent); entering the Indie Charts at #12 so London Records released 500 more Limited Edition 12” Singles. 1986 dance-rock anthem ‘Fault’ (produced by Rushent & remixed in NYC by John Luongo), brought huge underground success and album 'First (The Sound Of Music)' produced by Mark Shaw & Owen Davies included hits ‘Let Her Fall’, and ‘Muscle Deep’ (banned by Radio One for anti-apartheid lyrics) and ‘The Motive’ which spent 14 weeks in the charts and was the most-played single on BBC Radio One in ‘87. Worldwide success followed and the band played sold-out tours, headlined 2 shows at The Royal Albert Hall, London and toured with Iggy Pop, INXS, Propaganda, and The Explorers. The 1989 album , ‘The Big Area (Outside)’ sold over 100,000 copies in 40 minutes of release. Producers include Mark Shaw & Peter Henderson; Rick Nowles; Rhett Davis & Bruce Lampcov; and Gary Langan who produced the hit ‘Big Area’. . Mark Shaw continues to perform, write & record as Then Jerico. (MS 2018) http://www.thenjerico.com
