The Yearning is a band conceived as a studio project led by Britain’s Joe Moore who has other projects like The Perfect Kiss or JULIE ET JOE and collaborates with artists like Lia Pamina, Cristina Quesada or Maddie Mae. Many compare The Yearning to bands like The School or Camera Obscura, but there are differences. Their sound is lighter, closer to Phil Spector, Burt Bacharach or Brian Wilson. The Yearning first appeared in 2012 with Jukebox Romance (an innocent, exciting, hyper-melodic album close to Dusty Springfield, The Paris Sisters and The Beach Boys). It was followed of Still In Love, where Joe Moore spreads his stylistic wings with showing his incredible abilities as a composer and arranger. Dreamboats & Lemonade is passion for pop and a pure homage to Françoise Hardy, Burt Bacharach or Lesley Gore. In the more melancholy Evening Souvenirs features the Cotswold Voices choir on select tracks. Take Me All Over The World arrived in 2018. It has inclinations to bossa and Brazilian breezes (echoes of Astrud Gilberto and Elis Regina or Gal Costa). Only When I'm Dancing, the new album by the group is released in 2020 and this time it is is focused in the 70s and disco: it is ABBA, Barry White or The Nolans. This change of style is accompanied by a change of singer. Maddie Dobie, has been the lead vocal for so many years but now she is focused in her solo career like Maddie Mae so in this new album vocals are handed by Luci Ashbourne. So a new era full of surprises begins.
