Overcoming adversity and many of life’s curveballs in pursuit of the real art of hip-hop & the true love of his craft, solo wordsmith Jay Balbuena has learned to transform troubled-times into rhymes that have set him free entirely. Born in Salamanca, Guanajuato, Mexico in the early 90’s, his family made a move to Southern California where Jay would spend the majority of his childhood. Moving around the notoriously bad areas of South Cali the family eventually settled in South Central L.A. just before the turn of the millennium. As of 2007 Jay now resides in Omaha, Nebraska. Picking up the mic, this humble poet writes from a therapeutic aspect in efforts to heal and express life from the inner soul. Combining his poetry with beats that bump with rhythm, energy & emotion – Jay Balbuena isn’t attempting to make a career out of finding the next hit single or sound; he writes what’s REAL with lyrics and rhymes that match the movement of a song through exceptional tone, iconic delivery and genuine passion for the music; Jay has the insight of knowing real art can be subjective.
