There probably is no young girl in the Netherlands who doesn't know the outgoing and always good-humored Djamila. Starting in 2008, she grew to over 1 million subscribers and more than 10 million views a month, which makes her the most popular Dutch speaking female YouTuber. In 2017 she finally branched out to a passionately awaited music career as a singer and songwriter. Her first single "Brickwall" became No 1 on the Dutch iTunes charts, scored more than a million streams on Spotify and the music video has been watched over 10 million times. In June that year, Djamila released her Debut album „Girl“. A compilation of catchy pop/rock tunes and emotional ballads, which established her as a real artist in the Benelux music scene. The unstoppable multitalent also got the lead role in her acting debut „Misfit“. The movie received a “gouden film” award with 240.000 visitors. She partnered with Mojo in 2017 to perform her first show in Tivoli Utrecht, which was sold out to a crowd of 2.000. After the succesful show, the “We’re All Misfits Tour” was brought to life with sold out shows across the Netherlands. The "Unbreakable Tour" is coming up later this year. In spring 2019 it was announced that Djamila will return to the role of Julia for „Misfit 2“. Her song “Wild” is the title track for the movie, and she helped pen the finale song "Niemand Weet". These facts make it pretty clear: Djamila is a role model of a new media popstar, who inspires a whole generation.
