Meet Ola Szmidt, a multi-talented artist who excels as a singer-songwriter, composer, producer, and sound therapist. For the past 10 years, Ola has been perfecting her unique style of minimal composition using looping devices. Her hard work and dedication have paid off, as Four Tet has mentored her through the Steve Reid Foundation since 2016. In 2022, Ola signed a deal with Matthew Herbert's Accidental Records for her next EP3 release. She's also working on her debut LP with funding from Arts Council England. Ola's education and training are equally impressive. She studied jazz and vocal improvisation with Julie Tippetts and Keith Tippett at the prestigious International Summer School in Dartington, where she was awarded a scholarship. Additionally, she completed a MA in Improvised Music at the University of York between 2018-2021, where she pushed herself creatively and made her vocal the principal instrument in all her compositions. This helped her develop a unique approach to musical expression. Ola is also a classically trained flautist with expertise in various sound therapy fields. Ola's passion for sound energy healing began during her time at De Montfort University, where she earned a BA degree in music technology and electro-acoustic music under the guidance of Dr John Richards, Dr Bret Battey, and Dr Peter Batchelor. She has continued deepening her knowledge in this area and has been a guest lecturer at DMU since 2022.
