Born and raised in the Pennsylvania Rust Belt, Those Who Fear came out swinging with the blue collar work ethic of their hometown, Pittsburgh, PA staunchly ingrained in them. Their brand of east coast hardcore comes at you like a wall of sound, and Those Who Fear make no apologies for the message behind the music. After a self-released EP in 2011, the band found themselves exploring the darker side of faith and ideology, writing and recording their debut full length Unholy Anger with Josh Schroeder at Random Awesome Studios (A Plea For Purging, The Burial). Those Who Fear allowed themselves to give voice to weighty personal and societal issues on Death Sentence, and the sophomore album was more furious than ever. Death Sentence burst forth with a more aggressive interpretation of the east coast hardcore sound we’ve come to expect, while offering a new musical range thanks to the addition of new drummer Jacob Wilder and the return of engineer Josh Schroeder. Those Who Fear’s final album was also their most urgent and weighty album. The band recorded State of Mind again with Josh Schroeder, making it a trifecta for Facedown Records. State of Mind combines “catchy lyrics, beefy vocals, brutalizing aggression and occasional cuts of razor-sharp riffing and fast-footed two-stepping into an experience that fans of rampant, ruthless and belligerent metal-turned-hardcore won’t be able to get enough of.”
