In the air and grounded too, Mia June is heavy with heart and riddled with nostalgia. Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, Mia and her band of good friends blend authentic heart-on-sleeve folk songwriting with a gritty indie rock sound, inspired by the likes of Fiona Apple, Big Thief and Lucy Dacus. Cathartic release of emotion is at the forefront of every song written by June, and whether that be for sadness, happiness, anger, grief, or yearning, honesty comes with it. Mia June writes of young love and angst, learning about the kind of person you are as you age, watching your friends change and drift away, or stand closer to you than ever. There seems to be one reoccurring theme, how the relationships we make as we cross the bridge between adolescence to adulthood form us and shape us as people, teach us who we are and who we are not. After 2 releases in 2022, June embarked on her first national tour in support of Stella Donnelly’s record ‘Flood’ in early 2023, as well as releasing her third single ‘Hungry’ with Father/Daughter records. Mia June is perpetually writing, and is set to release more music very soon.
