I hated Lickgoldensky when I first heard them. This was an album, and a band, that I really, really didn’t like for a very long time. - the sound not the word Though the band’s moniker seems like a logorrheic take on a lost classic by America, Lickgoldensky should at least be given some credit for not horking the name of a ’70s B-list celebrity such as Charles Bronson and Yaphet Kotto. - washington city paper The people in the band went on to be in a bunch of other bands I don’t give a shit about. - razorcake OK, hands up: Whose job was it to persuade this excellent band to change its name to something that wasn't a complete embarrassment? Thanks for nothing. You're fired. Boasting one of the worst band names in history, Lickgoldensky bucks tradition by being not just a good band but a truly exciting band, one whose T-shirt you'd be proud to wear if its name weren't Lickgoldensky. - st louis riverfront times
