Ukie'z is an experimental folk project, which re-invents Ukrainian music tradition as a part of the transatlantic music world. Musicians are creating the alternate sound of Ukraine, how it could be if its culture wasn't destroyed during the Soviet occupation. Ukie’z include in their mix all that’s in the borderlines of Ukrainian culture of the past: it is the Kozak song, the archaic sound of Polissya and steep lands, emigrant folklore, the music of European Medieval. At the same time, the band adds Atlantic melodic elements to their sound, as if they have always been a native part of Ukrainian tradition.
