Abhi Saikia is an independent electronic music producer and DJ from Guwahati, Assam, mostly producing in the ambient house, deep house, and downtempo genres. He founded the independent record label Rainforest Records in 2017, and its sister label Rainforest Underground in 2019. Abhi Saikia has since 2017 been producing the hits like Nakhyatra, Jolopropat, Xarothi, Aaxha, Dhou, and had his first Hindi debut with Khwaab in 2021. Being also a country music fan at heart, Abhi's melodies are often reminiscent of the twang of banjos, mandolins, and guitars, fused with soothing sounds of the likes of Avicii, Kygo, Alesso. It is this versatility and sense of melody in him that sparked a revolution in the music industry of Assam with his breakthrough hit Jolopropat in 2017 with Shankuraj Konwar, and has since paved the way to more bedroom producers, singers, and instrumentalists from the region to get more experimental with their music, while also making an effort to build a strong community of independent artists from the region. Abhi Saikia was nominated for the NorthEast Young Heroes 2020 Award, along with Andrea Tariang, Alobo Naga and Mutsevelu Mercy Tetseo of Tetseo Sisters. He was also an invited speaker of a TEDx talk in 2018.
