Like the seasons that harbour a nostalgic memory or the whistle of the wind as it breezes by you, Lacuna totally encapsulates something so natural and so immensely beautiful. The Glasgow based Folk-Rock outfit have been going through a period of creative growth, with the latest EP Overgrown bringing forth a full and complete sound to the table. Consisting of vocalist Emily Beckwith, guitarist Jack McLellan, bassist Will Taylor and drummer/vocalist Sean Choon, Lacuna carved out what would become Overgrown in 2022. With the release of singles Robin and Red Thread both tracks received airplay from BBC Introducing Scotland, CamGlen Radio and a burgeoning support at live shows around Glasgow. The band welcomed Amie Huckstep (Saxophone, Backing Vocals) and Olivia Thom (Acoustic Guitar, Backing Vocals) into the fold ahead of the recording of the next half of Overgrown. Adding their stunning talents to the eerie Loving Her and the epic Viking Funeral, the sonic palette of Lacuna was expanded even further. Bookended by Loving Her and Viking Funeral, the EP welcomes and leaves you with the sound of what is to come in the future. With the latter track being an absolute masterclass at shifting between dynamic emotions with ease. Bringing together chiming harmonies and furies of distorted guitars, intertwined with the subdued nature of the verses, the song captures a perfect moment of artistic beauty.
