Barorisi Ba Morena (BBM)was established in 1965 by a group of 14 Soweteans who never received musical education as choristers, they were driven by passion and some live on to see the brand growing.They live on to see the 3rd generation of BBM. Free thinking and development of African congregations during the 18 and the 19th century brought about this unique style of singing that is today affectionately known as Mmino wa Clap and Tap,formerly known as Mmino wa Barorisi in the 70s up until early millennium. Ntate Jacob Tlou and the others like Mr. Joseph Seletso who later formed Jerusalema e Ncha, conceptualized this music in practice. BBM formerly known as St Jacob Saviours Church Choir is the first clap and tap choir to achieve recording success. The named changed was influenced by Ntate Tlou’s futuristic ideas, he decided that they should make Barorisi Ba Morena “The people’s choir”,the name Barorisi Ba Morena was born, their first album was Dipheko Live in Church '77 The Second album being Sewasho recorded in '78 was the introduction of Joseph Medupe Tlou,who till this day is a brand inside a brand BBM has survived the true test of time from '65 to date and still growing.Our home remains open even to previous members.
