Teen Ravine’s Dan Griffin and Nick Rose want to get close but not too close; a sentiment that may well be the hallmark of a generation’s struggle with the desire for, and fear of, intimacy. It’s fitting that the band’s debut self-titled album was conceived during periods of isolation as the two began collaborating from their apartment studios in Toronto as both an exercise in recovery and an exploration of physical and emotional alienation. As a result, the album has the obsessive intimacy of a bedroom recording while aspiring to the soft-rock, R&B and confessional pop of artists like Christopher Cross, Sade, Michael McDonald, Paul Simon, Fleetwood Mac and Paul McCartney. Their debut album will be released in the late summer of 2018.
