Pedro “sP” Polanco is a four-time Latin Grammy nominee and an ASCAP award-winning composer with over ten Top-10 hits on the Billboard Tropical Chart who has played a central role in shaping the sound of modern bachata. Born in the Dominican Republic, sP moved to the Bronx, New York when he was seven. The multitude of genres, cultures, and languages there shaped and influenced sP, and his music reflects his multicultural identity as he blends these sounds with all the sounds of his Dominican heritage. Bachata is one of the hottest Latin genres on the global market, as evidenced by the billions of collective views of bachata songs, performances, and dancers on YouTube, and over one million followers of the Bachata Lovers playlist on Spotify. sP has worked with many of the artists in the industry who attract this audience. 
 BCHTA RISING served as a platform for emerging bachata artists to express themselves. As sP knows from experience, these millennials have normally found roadblocks to their bilingual, multi-genre music; in fact, they may find themselves catering to traditional expectations rather than expressing themselves freely. BCHTA RISING seeks to provide these unique artists with an avenue to self-expression and ultimately, a broader audience. sP is currently in the studio finalizing “Casagemas”: Pinto Picasso ‘s first full feature studio album.
