The Bloom is the brainchild of indie rock/pop musician, Luke Kordyl. After 6 years based in London, he's now returned to his hometown of Fremantle, Western Australia due to the Covid- 19 outbreak. His first record ‘In The Sky’ was released independently and marked the start of his band establishing themselves as an ambitious new act with energetic live shows throughout the U.K. and Europe. Recorded in Perth, Western Australia, predominant Aussie producer Andy Lawson (Tired Lion, Eskimo Joe, Little Birdy, Gyroscope, End of Fashion) took the helm. The mastering was taken care of by Brian Lucy (The Black Keys, Arctic monkeys, Ray Lamontagne, Sigur Ros) in Los Angeles, California. “I grew up listening to The Police and Talking Heads but also Rage Against The Machine and those sorts of heavier bands so I when I started writing my own music I really got into the craft of putting all these different elements together focusing on heartfelt lyrics and catchy tunes,” says Luke. Soon after the album release his band embarked on its first European tour, spanning 15 dates across Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands the UK and France. In 2017 Luke won the first even Abbey road /Metro news Battle of the Bands competition, judged by Nile Rogers. Their prize was to record a new song at the iconic studio. The single launch for the new track ‘Always’ was also the bands biggest gig to date, Headlining the House Of Vans at Waterloo Station, London. photos by Rebecca Need-Menear.
