Emily Vay is an emotive performer who combines poetic, sing/songwriter pop with contemporary, electronic flourishes. Based out of Calgary Alberta Canada, Emily takes influence from artists such as Ashe, Aurora, and Joy Crooks, and has been referenced to sound similar to artists such as Florence and the Machine and Lana Del Rey. She is currently preparing to release her debut EP which will be available fall of 2020. The dynamic project shows a new side of Vay as she breaks into a new genre blend. “I am over the moon to release this project. It's a new sound for me, and I think it will catch people off guard in comparison to my last releases. It's more pop, but still has a dark undertone and a wide range of vocals which I think makes it unique.” Vay started her music career studying opera and musical theatre at age 10 which followed into her late teens. A promising young opera singer, she was accepted into an opera performance program at the university of British Columbia for the fall of 2017. However at this time she was introduced into production and songwriting working with local Red Deer artist Damian La Grange who is most known for his single release of ‘Beautiful Distractions’. Vay ended up changing her course of direction in her studies and denied her scholarships into university and began her career in songwriting and performing.
