BABA NYZA is the alias of Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, Arneeb Mahbub. His sonic influence stems from his upbringing in Bangladesh, his university days in Toronto, Canada, and most recently his love for exploring the dancehall urban sounds emanating from the UK, the Caribbean, and Nigeria. Such a diverse array of sounds unfolds in BABA NYZA's tracks, making him a presence not be to ignored as a crossover artist into and from Bangladesh. BABA NYZA's first independently released studio album Stuck in a Lovely surpassed over 3.2 million streams on Spotify within a year and a half of its release. The biggest track on that album, Vanity has surpassed over 1.5 million streams alone. As a completely DIY artist, his fanbase is one that is entirely able to support a rising artist stand on his own two feet. Stuck in a Lovely's melancholy RNB premise gave way to the rise of NYZA's future releases in the tracks Asiya and Booboo. With flavors of dancehall, EDM, and a vibe only an artist who has been grinding for 3 years can emulate, BABA NYZA's next release Miss Maverick spawned a viral Tik Tok dance Challenge and amassed over 800,000 streams in less than two months. BABA NYZA's latest and catchiest release, O Sonia has also become a listening staple on Spotify Bangladesh, charting at number 1 position on Spotify's Hot Hits Bangladesh playlist and the Bangla Pop playlist.
