When Into The Ark decided to scale up their sound for their debut album, they had little idea what lay ahead. What they didn’t expect was to make a record as modern and mainstream as the magnificent In The Stormiest Weather.   The band were about to embark on a US tour supporting cheerleading fan Sir Tom Jones when, at the last minute, it was postponed for Tom to have a hip operation. With time on their hands, the pair accepted a surprise invitation to a session with Catherine Songs, the Surrey-based stable of some of Britain’s premier pop producers, led by Ivor Novello Award winner Jamie Scott (Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Justin Bieber, Jess Glynne).   “They’d heard our singles, loved our harmonies and suggested we try writing together,” says lead singer and guitarist Taylor. “We went in with a few ideas, but no expectations. We were up for an experiment, but at the same time worried that our styles might be too far apart.”   “In the past our songs had been pretty downbeat. That single session taught us there was so much more we were capable of. It was also the first time I’d been brave enough to write about my real feelings.”   As often as they could, they’d return to Surrey, working primarily with the producers Dan Bryer and Mike Needle (Rag’n’Bone Man, Niall Horan, Hurts, Gavin   On In The Stormiest Weather you’ll hear Into The Ark as never before, plus a few live favourites reimagined.
